Disney All Star Sports Resort Review – Disney World on a Budget

Walt Disney World is a magical place that attracts millions of visitors every year. Walt Disney World has something for everyone, from thrilling rides and attractions to live shows, parades, and character meet-and-greets. Whether you’re a child, a teenager, or an adult, you’re sure to find something that will make you smile and create unforgettable memories.

Disney’s All Star Sports Resort is a great destination for people looking for an affordable and fun-filled vacation. This resort is part of the value resorts and offers affordable accommodations. If you are looking for a budget-friendly Disney Resort option for your Walt Disney World vacation, the All Star Sports Resort is a great choice. The rooms are reasonably priced and offer all the basic amenities you need for a comfortable stay.

Reasons to Stay at Disney’s All Star Sports Resort

Disney’s All Star Sports Resort is themed around popular sports such as football, basketball, and baseball. The resort is decorated with sports memorabilia and offer all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Kids and adults alike will love the colorful and lively décor of the resort.

The proximity to Disney Parks is one of the biggest reasons to book a hotel on Disney property vs. an off property hotel. Disney’s All Star Sports Resort is located within the Walt Disney World Resort, which means you are just a short bus ride away from all the Disney parks. This makes it easy to go back and forth between the resort and the parks, especially if you have young children. Staying on property also, means you can drive yourself to the parks if you choose and not have to pay for parking by showing your resort reservation which can save you $25-50 a day!

Disney’s All Star Sports Resort Tour – Walt Disney World on a Budget

Many of the rooms at Disney’s All Star Sports Resort have been recently remodeled. There are two types of room choices at this resort: standard and preferred. The preferred rooms offer lodging closer to the pool, food and transportation. The room that I stayed in was newly remodeled and had one queen bed, another pull down bed in the wall, a table, flatscreen wall mount tv, mini fridge, coffee maker and a separate bathroom vanity area and toilet shower area. The pull down was a good size and easy to use folding up the table and going onto the floor securely when pulled down.

There were multiple family-friendly activities at the Disney’s All Star Sports Resort too. This Disney resort offered a range of activities that are perfect for families with kids. From pool parties to movie nights, there is always something fun to do at the resort. Besides these activities Disney’s All Star Sports Resort has great amenities and the range of amenities made the stay comfortable and enjoyable. For starters there are multiple pools, including a pool themed after a baseball stadium, and a surfboard-shaped pool.

When you’re hungry the resort has an End Zone food court with plenty of options to choose from, including pizza, burgers, and pasta. For those looking for some extra fun, there is also, an arcade, a playground and a gift shop to explore.

One of the best things about visiting Walt Disney World in my opinion is the food. From classic American fare to international cuisine, Disney has an incredible variety of dining options. You can indulge in a Mickey-shaped pretzel or waffles, enjoy a Dole Whip, or have a fancy dinner at one of the many upscale restaurants right outside Disney’s All Star Sports Resort. You can leave the driving up to Disney too and hop a bus or the Minnie Van to your dining location. I highly recommend exploring other Disney resort and dining options during your Disney’s All Star Sports Resort stay.

Why visit Walt Disney World?

Disney’s All Star Resort

Walt Disney World is famous for its attention to detail and immersive theming. With impeccable themed each theme park and resort has its unique atmosphere, from the futuristic world of Epcot to the wild jungles of Animal Kingdom. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to another place and time, and you’ll love every minute of it. Walt Disney World helps create truly magical experiences for its guests. During your vacation you can watch fireworks over Cinderella’s Castle, go on a safari ride, or take a spin on a teacup.

Whatever you choose to do, you’ll feel like you’re part of something special when you take a Walt Disney World Vacation. With so many great resort and ticket deals going on all the time you’re bound to find something that meets your budget. Maybe it’s time to plan that summer escape.

Camping in the Outer Banks- Beechland Campground Manteo

Camping in the Outer Banks- Beechland Campground Manteo, Northern Carolina

Beechland Campground is the sister campground to the nearby Refuge Campground and is a camping area located in Manteo, North Carolina. It offers RV and travel trailer camping sites on gravel lots with full RV hookups. Beechland Campground has amenities such as a heated pool with handicapped access, bathhouses, and views of the Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge and the Croatan Sound.

The area is surrounded by nature and is close to popular attractions like the Outer Banks beaches and the Wright Brothers National Memorial. The Bowsertown Boat Ramp is next door to the campground and a small grocery store, Family Dollar and a few restaurants are within walking and biking distance. Our campsite was directly facing the sound and as a tip I would recommend bringing bug spray and keeping your windows closed. The small gnats were horrible and were so small they came in through our screen when I tried to enjoy the breeze.

The wifi was pretty slow, so if that is important bring your own hotspot. The tv channels I picked up on the cable were also, limited in this area so bring a dish, Roku or a DVD player. I used my phone hotspot for Roku. Most importantly there are many things within a short drive from the campground to do and see. If you enjoy biking definitely bring one along to go exploring in the quaint town of Manteo. If your dates are full at Beechland be sure to check Refuge or even camping in the local National Park.

During my trip I wasn’t able to enjoy the pool as it rained almost the entire weekend. It was a nice pool area though and had a ramp for handicapped access. The bathhouse was spacious and also, offered a handicapped shower and restroom. The camp host Glenn was extremely friendly and welcoming.

Things to Do in the Outer Banks of North Carolina

Festival Park, Roanoke Island, North Carolina
History is alive in Manteo, North Carolina

Not far up the road to the right from the campground is the quaint town of Manteo, North Carolina famous for the wonderful outdoor drama the Lost Colony. If you’re a nature lover definitely take time to visit the beautiful Elizabethan Gardens on the picturesque sound of Roanoke Island while you’re in town. There is plenty for the history buffs too like visiting Festival Park to see a replica Elizabeth II ship and historical artifacts from the area.

While you’re in the area consider a visit the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island to see some cool ocean life and a ship wreck where an immersed model of the the SS Monitor is in one of their exhibits. The North Carolina Aquariums are one of my favorite places to visit and two are on the Outer Banks area.

Bodie Lighthouse girl in Lilly Pulitzer
Bodie Lighthouse

The Bodie Lighthouse is nearby over the Washington Baum Bridge and then right on rt12 toward the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Here you’ll find one of my favorite North Carolina beaches Coquina beach and another camping spot Oregon Inlet Campground. If you’re into fishing you can book a fishing charter out of Oregon Inlet (across from the OI campground).

Tour the Outer Banks by Plane

Flying over the OBX in a small plane
Flying over the OBX in a small plane with just your family is a vacation memory you’ll be sure to treasure!

If you’re looking to explore I highly suggest booking a flight over the islands through OBX Airplanes which is at the Manteo Airport right behind the North Carolina Aquarium. You’ll definitely get a better appreciation for how the beautiful outer banks is laid out and if you’re lucky you’ll be able to see a few shipwrecks and maybe even some dolphins. There is just something extra special about flying over the Wright Brother’s memorial area knowing it is the site of the birth of flight itself! If flying isn’t your thing you can also, choose to drive to the Wright Brother’s Memorial and walk the grounds on foot.

Ride the Dunes or See Wild Horses in Corolla

go 4x4 in the obx
Renting a 4×4 vehicle or brining your own to drive on the beach is definitely a memorable experience.

For a day trip I suggest visiting the quaint town of Duck, the Currituck Beach Lighthouse or even go see the wild horses of Corolla on a horse adventure or hop on an atv and ride the dunes. Some areas of the Outer Banks allow you to get an off road permit to drive your own 4×4 vehicle on the beach or you can rent one while you’re at the beach and have a unique driving experience you’ll never forget. Don’t forget to bring your GoPro!

Cool off at H2OBX Waterpark

H2OBX
H2OBX has so much to offer no matter your preference for water fun.

Not that you will, but if you get tired of the beach and like water fun you can also, drive north to check out the new H2OBX water park too while you’re in town. H2OBX has plenty to offer for the whole family from a huge lazy river, water rides the whole family can fit on, single and double tubing rides, delicious food and fun apparel shopping. From sitting back in a lounge chair and watching everyone else, to speeding down tubes into the warm blue water or eating fish tacos and enjoying a watermelon milkshake you’ll find it all at H2OBX. Spending a day at H2OBX definitely is a great addition to any trip to the beach.

Go for a Walk or Run

Besides the tourist attractions get out and go for a run or walk on the beach or the many other places to venture. Walking on the dunes at Jockey’s Ridge is a local favorite. Visiting the Nags Head Woods Preserve is another great place to go for a run or walk. There are several well marked trails to follow including one that goes out to the Roanoke Sound and a picture perfect skeleton tree beach.

Trails 4/5 goes by small ruins of an old homestead and has a family graveyard with some graves dating back to the 1800s. The area seemed safe and we saw both families and single runners out on the trails. The area was very peaceful and filled with birds and wildlife. The visitor center had trail maps and area information and I would recommend going there first.

Where to Eat in the Outer Banks of North Carolina

The area near the campground Wanchese, North Carolina is known for seafood and has several areas in season to buy fresh fish and seafood. Fresh North Carolina shrimp purchased fresh from the Sugar Shack Fish Market are hard to beat in the OBX! Cooking up fresh, local seafood at your campsite makes a wonderful addition to any beach camping experience. There are too many great restaurants in the area to name here. I suggest exploring the area and trying new places. Avoid chain restaurants while on vacation and get something you can’t get at home.

sugar shack outer banks, north carolina

In the near by towns of Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills you will also, find many stores and restaurants to choose from as well as plenty of shopping. If you’re looking for some of the freshest all you can eat seafood in the OBX give Captain George’s a try. This is a local favorite for all you can eat seafood and includes crab legs on the buffet.

If you like sushi you’ll want to try Single Fin OBX in Nags Head. It is the best in the OBX and has a huge menu. There are plenty of specialty restaurants as well in the Outer Banks that cater to specific dietary needs. Nags Head pizza has a great gluten free, vegan and vegetarian menu for example.

Another one of my favorites located in Kill Devil, North Carolina is Mama Kwan’s Tiki Bar & Grill. I love the island vibe and all the tropical inspired dishes. They have a excellent drink menu too with many of their drinks coming in unique take home cups (they can make non alcoholic too). Visiting here always gets me in a vacation mood.

Back on Roanoke Island you will find that it is home to many restaurants and shops too. I recommend a stop at Vineyards on the Scuppernong in the shops of Downtown Manteo. The scuppernong grape is native to NC and has a delicious sweet taste and fragrance. If you love wine do yourself a favor and go try some scuppernong wine while you are in the area.

Camping in the Manteo at Beechland Campground offers a serene and enriching experience for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you’re exploring the coastal marshlands, birdwatching from your campsite, or immersing yourself in the local history and culture, this hidden gem on the Outer Banks promises a memorable escape into the heart of nature. Embrace the tranquility and natural beauty of Manteo on your next camping adventure in North Carolina’s coastal paradise. Beechland Campground doesn’t disappoint. I have camped multiple times in the OBX and the close proximity to many Outer Banks attractions is a big perk of this campground. I would highly recommend camping on a trip to the OBX.

Review of the Embassy Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront

The concept of a resort within a resort at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort is well executed and laid out. The Cavalier Resort consists of 3 hotels within one resort area including the Historic Cavalier Hotel, the Marriott Resort Virginia Beach Oceanfront and the newly opened Embassy Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort.

30 Second Review Embassy Suites by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront

The near 100 year old historic and ionic Cavalier Hotel which reopened in 2018 after a $85 million remodel sits across the street from the Marriott Resort Virginia Beach Oceanfront and the newly opened Embassy Suites Resort Hotel. The Cavalier Beach Club is in the middle of the Marriott and Hilton properties which both face the ocean.

Inside the lobby of the Embassy Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort

The Embassy Suites Resort Hotel was designed as a signature addition to the Cavalier. The resort hotel has 157 hotel suites, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill and TNT (Tacos ‘N Tequila). The hotel rooms boast beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Embassy Suites Resort Hotel has a very modern feel to it, but vibes of big band and hints of a bygone era are woven throughout.

I stayed in room 1084 during my visit to the Embassy Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort

I stayed in room 1084 during my visit to the Embassy Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort. The room was a one room king suite and consisted of a bathroom with a walk-in shower, lighted mirror, sofa, small kitchen table, kitchen area with refrigerator, coffeemaker, microwave, flatscreen smart tv, king sized bed and a large balcony with side views of the Atlantic Ocean and beach. The room was comfortable and the wifi was fast enough for remote working.

Resort status is only given to locations that have elevated amenities and this hotel holds up to its name. During my stay I wasn’t able to partake in any of the resort amenities like the free bike or metal detector rentals as the weather wasn’t for it. The outdoor pool was also, closed due to the season. The indoor pool I could imagine is lovely when the doors are open and the sound of the ocean waves can be heard. The outdoor pool at the Embassy Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort is beautifully landscaped and the pool deck has a fire pit area for lounging.

Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill inside the Embassy Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront

The new hotel carries signature Embassy Suites by Hilton amenities such as an evening reception and made to order breakfast for hotel guests. The evening reception held at the hotel restaurant Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill consisted of light snacks and two drinks per overnight guest. During my stay hummus, pita chips, vegetables, ranch dip, potato chips, various cheese and crackers were served at a set time for overnight guests to enjoy.

History on the Arbuckle restaurant’s name sake found inside the menu at Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill at the Embassy Suites Resort Hotel Virginia Beach

Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill is named after film star Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle. The actor was know to rent out entire floors at the Cavalier in the late 20s and 30s. The history surrounding Arbuckle can be found on the wall outside the restaurant and inside the menu. It is a very interesting read and I enjoyed their nod to the history of the Historic Cavalier.

Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill is named after film star Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle. The actor was know to rent out entire floors at the Cavalier in the late 20s and 30s.

The menu at Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill has everything from delicious appetizers like local oysters, burgers with even a meatless option, salads, seafood and desserts. During the evening reception I tried the oysters Rockefeller and they were delicious. The complimentary made to order breakfast is also, served at Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill. The breakfast items are served buffet style.

Choices at the complimentary breakfast were plentiful at Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill inside the Virginia Beach Embassy Suites Resort Hotel.

The made to order omelet station was my favorite and had so many fresh choices like mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and jalapeños. There was an area with different types of breakfast meats, breakfast potatoes, French toast, a wide variety of bread items, cereals, fresh fruit juice/soda machine, coffee and a large selection of hot teas. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. I like that the restaurant was decorated with pictures of Arbuckle’s films and life.

Dining Options Cavalier Resort Area

Dining at Becca Cavalier Resort Virginia Beach

There is no shortage of places to eat within walking distance of the Virginia Beach Embassy Suites Resort Hotel. The Cavalier resort area boasts multiple award winning options. Out of 3,000 restaurants in Virginia Beach on TripAdvisor the top 1-4 are at the resort. Orion’s Roof on the top floor of the Marriott Resort Virginia Beach has some of the most spectacular views of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

Additionally next door at the Marriott Resort Virginia Beach is Tula a health-conscious seaside restaurant and between the two hotels the Cavalier Beach Club. Sitting in Adirondack chairs on the Marriott lawn and mobile ordering from Tula was one of my favorite things in the area during warmer days.

At the Historic Cavalier across the street one can enjoy Becca, the Hunt Room and the Raleigh Room for drinks and dining. Becca has some of the most amazing oysters I have ever eaten in both flavor and presentation. The Eisenhower Tarnished Truth injected filet is a must try as well at Becca along with the Signature Mile High Cake or the Apple Cobbler Cheesecake. The Hunt Room’s Wedge All the Way and Virginia Smoke and Cure with some Hunt Room Brunswick stew are perfect to eat while enjoying the restaurants large fireplace.

The Historic Cavalier is a must visit if you’re staying at the Embassy Suites Resort Hotel. The architecture and sheer luxury of the hotel alone are captivating. Make sure to check during your stay to see if the Cavalier Hotel is hosting any special events. I have enjoyed several special events at the Cavalier Hotel including Christmas Tree Lighting, Halloween Party and a Luau which were all very memorable. In addition the Cavalier Hotel is home to its own distillery Tarnished Truth. The distillery is award-winning and creates locally crafted specialty spirits, rye whiskey, bourbon, vodka and gin. Tastings and tours are available Thursday through Sunday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The Historic Cavalier Hotel and resort area simply is a must visit if you’re planning a trip to Virginia Beach. The new Embassy Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort offers great amenities, a beautiful location, outstanding dinning choices and offers a great location as a base for Virginia Beach exploration or staying solely at the resort. The Embassy Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort is a more modern option to the Historic Cavalier Resort and I guarantee you will love it.

Double Tree Myrtle Beach South Carolina Hotel Tour

Double Tree by Hilton Myrtle Beach, Sc

If you’re looking for a hotel in Myrtle Beach, SC look no further than the Double Tree by Hilton Myrtle Beach🌊 The Double Tree was the host hotel for ETA the past week and it was such a lovely hotel to stay in. The location was central to grocery, dinning, night life and activities in the Myrtle Beach area. The room had a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Spring Maid Pier. Walking on the pier was free to hotel guests showing a room key card and $12 to go fishing on the pier. The beach is secluded in front of the hotel and I found a lot of shells and even a shark’s tooth!

The Double Tree by Hilton Myrtle Beach had great amenities like an on-site restaurant that I ate at twice for lunch and dinner. The menu had seafood options, sandwiches, soups, salads, flatbreads, desserts and a full bar. The view of the Atlantic Ocean was great from the tables. The Double Tree by Hilton Myrtle Beach has several pools including children’s pools, a lazy river and an indoor heated pool.

I enjoy staying at Double Tree Hilton because I can easily manage my stay and room key directly on their app. I travel a lot and one thing I hate is when I go to unlock my door and find the hotel key has deactivated and doesn’t work. Having to go to the lobby or call someone can be frustrating.

I definitely don’t want to be standing outside my room waiting for someone to come fix my key while on vacation. This never happens at Double Tree with my in app room key. Staying at Double Tree Hilton always gives me a piece of mind especially if it’s a solo trip. Come for the Double Tree chocolate chip cookies…stay for the views.
