Hi, I’m Krystle—The Virginia Hype Girl
Welcome to Take a Walk in My Flip-Flops, where travel, food, history, and Southern hospitality come together!
I’m a lifelong Virginian and small-town resident, and I enjoy sharing the places, people, and experiences that make Virginia such a great place to explore. I’m especially passionate about supporting the local restaurants, mom-and-pop businesses, makers, and brands that give our communities their personality.
My love for all things Virginia started long before this blog. I’ve had the honor of representing Virginia as Miss Virginia-National American Miss 2006, and Miss Beautiful International Model 2007, where I promoted my platform of volunteerism. Those experiences gave me the opportunity to meet people throughout the state, connect with communities, and see firsthand how much there is to love right here at home. Giving back and supporting the communities I call home will always be important to me.
As a travel blogger, content creator, food photographer, and marketing professional, I bring more than 20 years of experience in marketing and experiential marketing to the work I do today. My career has included working with brands and organizations as a Field Marketing Manager, Team Lead, Brand Ambassador, Spokesmodel, and Product Specialist. That experience has given me a strong understanding of how to connect with people, represent a brand, and create content that tells a story.
Today, I share my adventures throughout Virginia and across the East Coast. From fresh seafood along the coast to local cafés, family-owned restaurants, wineries, small-town shops, and places worth a road trip, I love finding something new and sharing why I think you should check it out.
For me, it’s about more than simply telling you where to go. I want you to meet the people behind the businesses, taste the food, experience the places, and understand what makes them worth a visit.
